Set in the beautiful Indian hill station, Gangtok, The Fragile Thread of Hope, by Pankaj Giri tells an inspirational and moving tale. The plot revolves around the lives of two people - Soham and Fiona.

Both the protagonists have had a troubled past and are trying to move on from the demons of their past. Soham lost his elder brother in an accident, and the devastating memories still haunted him. Fiona had a difficult childhood. But she finds happiness and things get better when she married her beloved. However, her happiness was shortlived as she lost her husband in an accident. Fate had something unexpected in store for both of them.

The plot is very well constructed and the writing style is beautiful. It perfectly captures the emotional and moving tone. The vivid description of the setting makes the book all the more amazing. The plot progresses at quite a slow pace and the narration is descriptive. The language is lucid and easy. All the characters are very well developed. Emotions of love, loss, grief and pain have been portrayed in this book making it a heart-wrenching read.

Altogether, Pankaj Giri's The Fragile Thread of Hope is a simple yet moving read.


About the author: Pankaj Giri was born and brought up in Gangtok, Sikkim—a picturesque hill station in India. He began his writing career with a book review blog and after several years of honing his writing skills, he wrote his debut solo novel The Fragile Thread of Hope. The inspirational fiction novel was selected as a “Top 5 Finalist” in the Amazon Pen to Publish Contest 2017 and received critical acclaim worldwide. It also led to him being felicitated by Sikkim Manipal University for his contribution to the literature of Sikkim and being invited by popular website YourStory.com and ABN TV, India’s first Nepali satellite channel, for exclusive interviews. He is currently working in the government sector in Sikkim. He likes to kill time listening to progressive metal music and watching movies and sitcoms.
