Book Review 30: Pralay-The Great Deluge by Vineet Bajpai.

'Pralay' by Vineet Bajpai is the second book of the Harappa Trilogy. It is the sequel to the book 'Harappa-Curse of the Blood River'. The story starts at the exact point where Harappa ends. The amalgamation of two genres - Mythology with Thriller spices up the book. The book begins with a summary of the events that happened so far in the previous book. This makes it a lot easier for the readers to read and comprehend even if they have not read the first part of this trilogy.

The plot is quite interesting. There is action, thrill, twists and mystery everywhere in the book. The book tells the tale of different places and of different times simultaneously. Each connected to the other. One in the past and the other in the present. The past is the story of Vivasvan Pujari and his son Manu. And Manu's journey to the Black Temple. Simultaneously, the present time witnesses the story of Vidyut, the last Devta. Situations arise which leads Vidyut to explore the past, present, future, and the theory of 'New World Order'.

The unexpected twists and turns in the plot make the book a page-turner. The story is fast-paced. However, there's too much happening in each page, that made it a little difficult to keep up with and a bit boring too.

The impeccable writing style of the author makes the book all the more interesting. Also, the author has used easy and simple words and sentences. This is another aspect of the book that adds to its simplicity. The characters are well built. And there are some new characters introduced in this part of the series. It is indeed evident from the book that the author has done extensive research work to put up in this book.

Overall, the book is gripping and I liked it. The ending left me wanting to know more. So, I am eagerly waiting for the next and final part of the series, 'Kashi - Secret of the Black Temple' to come out.

If you love to read Mythology, Historical Fictions and Thrillers, pick this book up. You will love it.
