Image
Ankita Verma Datta's debut fiction novel, 'Trust Me Not', has all the elements needed to make a book an absolute five-star read. It's perfect in every way. The storyline is very gripping and enthralling. The genre of this cannot be specified as it has touches of a political thriller as well as romantic fiction in it. Reeva Rai is the protagonist. She is a rising corporate star. When she comes across the dashing, attractive and enigmatic billionaire, Kunaal Kabi, she is completely swept off her feet. Book Review 24: The Aryabhata Clan by Sudipto Das.

Image
'The Aryabhata Clan' by Sudipto Das is an exceptionally well-written novel. This is the second mystery novel by the author after 'The Ekos Clan' .  From the beginning until the end, the book is full of suspense and mysteries. The main theme of the plot is spun around a verse composed by the great Indian mathematician and astronomer, Aryabhata, around 1500 years ago. The plot is very well constructed and extremely interesting. The Islamic State has stealthily spread the tentacles of terrorism in the Indian Subcontinent. Young and intelligent Kubha has to fight against all the odds to save herself and her nation. Twenty-one-year-old Kubha is the daughter of a linguistic palaeontologist, Afsar Fareedi, and Kratu Sen. Book Review 23: Swear You Won't Tell? by Vedashree Khambete-Sharma.

Image
A combination of thriller and comedy genres in a single book is something which is not found very often. But in the book, 'Swear You Won't Tell?', Vedashree Khambete-Sharma has combined these two genres and it's AMAZING! The book is totally unputdownable. I completed reading this book in 5 hours, without taking a break. I mean, I could not wait to know what would happen next. It's full of suspense and humour. The plot is quite interesting. The protagonist is Avantika Pandit, who works as a journalist in Mumbai Daily. She was asked to attend a show by a famous designer, Aisha Juneja. As she saw the invitation card, Avantika realised that it was the same Aisha, her childhood enemy. With utter reluctance, she attended the event and was later asked to interview Aisha. But upon arriving at Aisha's home, her brother, Dhruv informed Avantika that Aisha wouldn't be able to meet her as their friend Laxmi was dead. Avantika was shocked. Laxmi was her former b...

Book Review 22: Inside The Heart Of Hope by Rishabh Puri.

Image
'Inside the Heart of Hope' by Rishabh Puri  tells us a wonderful tale of hopefulness. The story makes us believe firmly in the idea that no matter how big problems come in our path, we should not lose hope and proceed dauntlessly. The protagonist, Rick, is suffering from  a heart condition known as Aortic Valve Stenosis and Hyperlipidemia. Book Review 21: Something I Never Told You by Shravya Bhinder.

Image
'Something I Never Told You' is a short and sweet love story. The plot is very simple and to some extent clichéd as well. The protagonist Raunak, who is head over heels in love with Adira. He has deep feelings for her but failed to express his love for her. His love is left unrequited as it is unexpressed. The whole story goes on about how much he loves Adira but is unable to confess his love. I found this a bit boring. It was the repetition of the same 'one-sided love saga', where the protagonist is hopelessly in love with an extremely beautiful girl who seems to be way out of his league. The guy still struggles with his deep feelings but cannot express. The author has developed each the characters really well. Each of them has a unique personality. They might seem to be relatable to some people. The sequence of the story is another aspect in which the author has done a commendable job. The narrative was quite easy and simple. However, there were a few gramma...

Book Review 20: Letters To My Ex by Nikita Singh.

Image
Nikita Singh's  latest book 'Letters to My Ex'  is very different from her previous books. This book is in the letter-format. It has a unique format of narration. I was very excited about this book since the time when the author announced the book. I have read most of her previous books and loved them. Also, since the title as well as the cover of the book is very attractive and seems interesting, I had really high expectations from this book. The plot is quite simple. The main characters are Nidhi and Abhay. They had been in a relationship for almost five years. At their engagement, Nidhi calls it off, and thus their long loving relationship comes to an end abruptly. However, the reason for this is unknown at the beginning, which seems confusing. Nidhi decides to pen down her feelings in letter format. Also, Abhay's point of view and feelings has been explored. You have to read the book to know why Nidhi broke the engagement, and also what happens to them l...

Book Review 19: Irina's Eye by H.W. Freedman.

Image
A Historical Fiction is  defined  as a  novel  in which a story is made up but is set in the past and sometimes borrows true characteristics of the time period in which it is set.  H.W. Freedman has beautifully penned a historical fiction, 'Irina's Eye'. The story revolves around Vaclav Bezek, a Czech guy, who fled Czechoslovakia along with Irina, a Jewess, whom he was in love with. They wanted to escape behind the Iron Curtain, from a turbulent Eastern Europe, which was under the influence of USSR during the post World War II period. They were only fifteen then. The book very well describes the unstable and chaotic condition of the post World War II Eastern Europe. While trying to escape, Irina was shot and she fell. The sudden turn of events resulted in Irina's eye to fall into Vaclav's hands. But, he succeeded in escaping to West Germany. There he led his life as a refugee. Again, he travels to Rome and finally, to New York. However, Vaclav never ...

Book Review 17: Aqson Level 1 by Sreejib.

Image
'Aqson Level 1' by Sreejib is undoubtedly one of the best urban fantasy books I have ever read. As a reader, I was completely blown away by the book. I mean, it's brilliant! The book is a delight to read. I just cannot express in words how much I loved and enjoyed reading the book. The author has penned an absolutely interesting as well as compelling novel which revolves around a mighty game, Aqson, played between God and Lucifer. The way the author has compiled Mythology with Politics in the novel is intriguing. The goal of the game is to capture the seat of the Prime Minister of India. Whoever succeeds in capturing it first, wins Aqson. The duration of the game is 30 years. Young and beautiful Yuvrani Rathore from Delhi, who is the president of the ruling party of India, is the human form of Lucifer's weapon in the game, Pithos. Her guardian angel is Vanraj, who in human form is her body-guard. However, God has not actively participated in the game for the la...
