Kritika Sharma's book 'The Slut Chronicles: Betrayed'  is the first book of the trilogy. The book stresses on a very serious and sensitive issue. Women in our society are often victims of 'slut-shaming'. They are judged and are tagged as 'characterless' or termed as 'slut' by the judgemental and hypercritical society of ours. This book tells the story of a successful and famous woman, Ishana. We come to know about her past life. How she had been in love and was betrayed. People around her in the big bad world try to pull her down. She has been slut-shamed and what not. Ishana faced really tough situations in her life which helped her to emerge stronger out of it.  The story is so interesting that it kept me hooked to the book. It took me a few hours to complete reading this book. Every little incident is described very well in details. The characters are relatable as well. The narration is fast paced and the author has used simple la...

Book Review 20: Letters To My Ex by Nikita Singh.

Nikita Singh's  latest book 'Letters to My Ex'  is very different from her previous books. This book is in the letter-format. It has a unique format of narration. I was very excited about this book since the time when the author announced the book. I have read most of her previous books and loved them. Also, since the title as well as the cover of the book is very attractive and seems interesting, I had really high expectations from this book. The plot is quite simple. The main characters are Nidhi and Abhay. They had been in a relationship for almost five years. At their engagement, Nidhi calls it off, and thus their long loving relationship comes to an end abruptly. However, the reason for this is unknown at the beginning, which seems confusing. Nidhi decides to pen down her feelings in letter format. Also, Abhay's point of view and feelings has been explored. You have to read the book to know why Nidhi broke the engagement, and also what happens to them l...

'Fragile Strings' by Arushi Vats is a collection of heart-warming poems. There are total 66 short poems in the book and each one is equally moving. The emotional turbulence felt by the author is very well depicted in the poems. The poems reflect how a girl battles her own feelings and sorrow due to heartbreak; and in the process, she discovers herself and emerges stronger. The first few poems begin on an sad note; but as we proceed reading the book, the poems show a gradual shift towards positivity. The author has beautifully portrayed her feeling through her poems. The poems are based on the themes of heart-break, love, dejection and self-realization and self-love. Arushi has also shown realistic approach towards life. The following lines are an excerpt from the book which shows her practical view-point. "This is how life is   you dream about   could have's and should have's   and it slips   from your hand   like grains of sand." Depth ...
